Tours are approximately 3 to 4 hours long and are offered in additional languages based on tour guide availability.

Accessibility

All of the Museum’s exhibitions are accessible by wheelchair, and all public floors of the Museum can be reached by elevator. Public elevators equipped with Braille signage and auditory signals are located near the Central Park West and 77th Street entrance, the Rose Center entrance, and the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation entrance.

Service animals are welcome to visit the Museum.

Getting There

Subway: Take the B (weekdays only) or C to 81st Street. Two blocks west of the Museum, the 1 train stops at Broadway and West 79th Street.
Bus: The M79 bus travels east/west on West 79th Street across Central Park, with a stop next to the Museum on West 81st Street. Other buses also stop at or near the Museum, including the M7, M10, M11, M86, and M104 buses.

Yes! We are delighted to welcome Members and their guests to the Member Entrance located on Central Park West (ground level, via the driveway) at 79th Street.

The Member Entrance is accessible by wheelchairs and strollers.

The parking discounts for Members are as follows:

Flat rate of $12 for members arriving any time after 4 pm, until 11 pm, seven days a week.

Show your Membership card at exit and the cashier will adjust the rate.

Except where noted, photography for personal use is allowed with hand-held cameras using available light or electronic flash attachments.

  • Selfie sticks are not permitted at the Museum.
  • Tripods and lights may not be used.
  • The reproduction or sale of photographs is not allowed without the Museum’s permission.
  • No photography or filming is permitted in the theaters, including the Hayden Planetarium Space Theater or the LeFrak Theater.
